Carnaross Mart Monday Cattle Sale

What to Expect

Carnaross Mart holds a weekly cattle sale every Monday, with bullocks and calves going through the ring from approximately 10am, alongside runner and weanling lots depending on the week. The mart serves buyers and sellers from across the northeast and is County Meath’s busiest livestock auction centre, running the Monday cattle sale alongside a Wednesday sheep sale and a Thursday heifer and cull cow sale in the same yard. Live auctions run with online bidding also available via LSL Auctions, so buyers can follow and bid on lots remotely if they cannot get to Meenlagh in person. Intake is from early morning, with sellers advised to have stock penned, tagged, and ready well before the 10am start so weighing and drafting can run smoothly. Lots are worked through by weight and type, with calves generally sold first and heavier bullocks following, and buyers travel from across Meath, Cavan, and Westmeath for the sale, so numbers and prices are usually well established by mid-morning.

Getting There

Carnaross is a small crossroads village about 8km south of Kells town on the R164, roughly midway between Kells and Virginia. There is ample on-site parking for trailers and livestock vehicles, and the mart is well signposted from the village.
