What to Expect

Castlebridge Show is a long-running community horticultural and agricultural show held at Castlebridge Community Centre, a village a few kilometres north east of Wexford town. Organisers date the show back to 1940, and it has continued through the Second World War and, more recently, the Covid-19 pandemic, making 2026 one of its later editions in an 86-year history. It is run as a traditional, old-fashioned family day out rather than a large commercial event: local growers, bakers, crafters and children enter produce, flowers, art, photography and homebaking into judged classes, with rosettes, perpetual awards and memorial trophies presented on the day. A dog show, sponsored by a local pet supplier, runs alongside the main show and takes entries on the day itself. The show is organised entirely by a volunteer committee, which also keeps a show garden plot at Castlebridge Community Garden and runs occasional gardening demonstrations in the run-up to show day. Its continuation from year to year depends on exhibitors, sponsors, judges and volunteers turning out to support it, something the committee has flagged as an ongoing concern even as the show keeps going.

Getting There

Castlebridge is a village on the R741 a short drive north east of Wexford town, and the Community Centre is in the centre of the village with parking available on site.
