At Townhall Street · Townhall Street, Cavan, Co. Cavan
Cavan town’s Townhall Street turns into an open-air Christmas market for the Christmas Cottage Market, running from 1pm to 7pm on both Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026. Organisers describe it as the county’s festive centrepiece, bringing over 60 local vendors together in one outdoor setting for a weekend of seasonal shopping and entertainment. Entry is free, and the market is aimed squarely at families and anyone doing their Christmas shopping close to home rather than online.
The stalls are given over to handmade gifts, artwork and festive food, giving shoppers a chance to buy directly from the people who make what they’re selling rather than from a chain store. Live music plays across both days to keep the street feeling festive, and there’s a programme of Homesteading School workshops running alongside the market, covering wreath-making, festive feasts, zero-waste practices and baked gifts. Spots on these workshops need to be booked in advance rather than turned up to on the day. Organisers have said further vendor and performer announcements are still to come, so the final line-up may grow between now and December.
Townhall Street sits in the centre of Cavan town, close to the town’s main car parks, with the market itself set up outdoors along the street with seating provided.
Cavan town is the natural base for a festive weekend, with shops, cafes and pubs within walking distance of the market. There is more to see in Cavan and across Co. Cavan.
