Drag Brunch Show at Headfort Arms Kells - Summerfest 2026

At Headfort Arms Hotel · Headfort Place, Kells, Co. Meath

Drag queen performers on stage at a brunch event

Sunday afternoon in Kells gets a glamorous twist on 12 July 2026 as DragQueens.ie brings a full drag brunch to the Headfort Arms Hotel, right in the middle of Kells Summerfest weekend. Performers Divalicious and Fifi Fondue - two-thirds of the DreamGirls cabaret trio from Waterford - are no strangers to this room; they have played the Headfort Arms before and the crowd there clearly agrees with them. If you want a long, loose, entertaining Sunday afternoon with good food, flowing drinks and a live show that pulls the audience in rather than just playing at them, this is the right ticket.

What to expect

The format runs in two halves. Doors and brunch seating open at 2pm for a happy hour period that runs to 3:30pm - time to eat, get a round in and settle. The live show kicks off at 3:30pm and combines a cabaret performance, lip-sync battles, comedy and audience participation with rounds of drag queen bingo complete with prizes. Tickets cover the brunch, cocktail jugs, prosecco and the full show including bingo, so there are no surprise extras on the day. DragQueens.ie events are inclusive by design and tend to draw a mix of groups - hen parties, birthday crowds, couples and solo attendees all in the same room - so it never feels cliquey. Expect big looks, chaotic bingo rounds and at least one audience member on stage before the afternoon is out.

Getting there

Kells is on the N3 Dublin to Cavan road, about 70km north-west of Dublin city centre - roughly an hour by car on a clear run. Bus Eireann route 109 runs from Dublin Busaras to Kells, making this doable without a car if you plan around the timetable. The Headfort Arms is on Headfort Place right in the town centre, within easy walking distance of the bus stop. Street parking is available around the town square and on the approach roads; it is a market town so spaces are generally findable on a Sunday afternoon.

While you’re in Kells

Kells Summerfest runs across the weekend, with an outdoor country-themed concert at the Headfort Arms on the Saturday evening (11 July), so there is plenty of reason to make a full weekend of it. The town itself has the ancient Round Tower, the High Crosses at St Columba’s Church, and the Book of Kells connection (the manuscript was kept here before it moved to Trinity College). There is more to see in Kells and across Co. Meath.
