At Bray Seafront · Bray Seafront, Bray, Co. Wicklow
EcoTrail Wicklow takes over Bray seafront on Saturday, 26 September 2026 for a full day of trail running through the Wicklow Mountains, with five distances on offer from a 10K up to an 80K ultra. It is one of the biggest organised trail running events in the county, drawing entrants from across Ireland and further afield who use the Wicklow Way and surrounding forest and mountain trails as their course. All distances start and finish at the seafront, giving Bray a steady stream of runners, support crews and finishers throughout the day.
The longest distance, the 80K, sets off first at 7:30am, followed by the 46K at 9:00am, the 30K at 10:00am, the 19K at 11:00am and the 10K at noon, so there is a staggered rhythm to the day rather than one single mass start. Courses climb into the Wicklow Mountains before looping back to the coast, taking in forest tracks, open hillside and, for the longer distances, some genuinely tough climbing. Every finisher gets a race bib with timing chip, a finisher’s tankard and a choice of a t-shirt or a tree planted in their name, with water available at aid stations along the way and at the finish. Runners are advised to carry their own food, since aid station provisions are a supplement rather than a full meal. Bray seafront turns into an informal finish line festival as the day goes on, with tired runners, cheering supporters and gear laid out to dry.
Bray has its own DART and mainline rail station a short walk from the seafront, making it an easy trip from Dublin without a car. The N11 also runs directly into Bray for anyone driving, though parking near the seafront gets busy on event day.
Bray has plenty to fill the rest of the day once the running is done, from the seafront promenade to the cliff walk toward Greystones. There is more to see across Co. Wicklow.
