At Presentation Arts Centre and venues around Enniscorthy · Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford
Enniscorthy comes alive each September as the Enniscorthy Arts & Culture Festival returns for a weekend built around the town’s creative community. The programme spans music and dance, storytelling, workshops and visual arts, with events spread across venues in the town rather than concentrated in one hall. The festival’s centrepiece is the Annual Open Call Exhibition, open to entries from artists connected to the region, which gives local and emerging talent a public platform alongside more established names. Expect a mix of ticketed performances and free-to-attend exhibitions and family activities, in keeping with the festival’s aim of putting Enniscorthy’s artistic life on show for residents and visitors over the same weekend. The festival draws on the town’s existing arts infrastructure, in particular the Presentation Arts Centre, which hosts the exhibition strand of the weekend, alongside pop-up use of other town venues for music and performance.
Enniscorthy sits on the N11/M11 Dublin-to-Wexford road, roughly 85km south of Dublin, and Enniscorthy railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Rosslare Europort line is a short walk from the town centre. The Presentation Arts Centre and most festival venues are within walking distance of each other in the town centre, with several public car parks nearby.
