At Brockagh Resource Centre · Laragh, Co. Wicklow, A98 D3H1
The Brockagh Country Market and Car Boot Sale sets up at the Brockagh Resource Centre in Laragh, the village at the entrance to Glendalough, on the second Sunday of most months of the year, skipping only January and February. It combines a car boot sale of secondhand and household goods with a country market table of crafts, plants and gifts, giving Glendalough valley residents and visitors a regular local trading day close to one of Wicklow’s busiest heritage sites.
Stallholders sell a broad mix rather than a single specialism: gifts, clothes, plants, books, toys, skincare products, candles, art and household tools all turn up on the day, alongside whatever car boot sellers bring along themselves. Because it runs at the Brockagh Resource Centre rather than an open field, the market has shelter and toilets on site, which keeps it going even in poor weather. All stallholders must pre-book their pitch through the centre in advance; there is no turning up on the day to trade without a booking, though shoppers are welcome to browse freely. The market is one of the few regular trading days in the immediate Glendalough and Laragh area, so it draws from a wide catchment across the Wicklow Mountains for both buyers and sellers.
Laragh sits where the R755 and R756 meet at the entrance to the Glendalough valley, around an hour’s drive south of Dublin. The Brockagh Resource Centre is in the village itself, a short walk from the main crossroads, with parking on site. There is no rail service to Laragh; the St Kevin’s Bus runs from Dublin to Glendalough and stops in the village.
Laragh is the gateway village to Glendalough, the monastic site and glacial lakes that draw visitors from across Ireland, and it sits within easy reach of the wider Wicklow Mountains. There is more to explore across Co. Wicklow.
