What to Expect

The Gorey Antiques, Vintage and Collectables Fair takes over function space at the Amber Springs Hotel on the Wexford Road on the edge of Gorey for an afternoon of buying and browsing. It is organised by Vintage Ireland, a promoter that runs a circuit of similar fairs at hotels around the country, bringing in a mix of specialist dealers rather than a single local seller base. Expect antique furniture and decor, vintage and antique jewellery and silver, coins, books, and general household collectables and curiosities spanning many decades, with dealers happy to talk through the history and value of what they are selling. The fair also runs at the same venue earlier in the year, so this October date is effectively the second of two annual visits to Gorey, giving buyers who missed the spring fair, or sellers with new stock since then, a second chance in the same year. It suits browsers as much as serious collectors: prices range from a few euro for smaller curiosities up to significant sums for quality antique furniture and jewellery, so there is something at most budgets across the room.
