At Boyle Arts Festival · Boyle, Co. Roscommon
If you want a proper night out during Boyle Arts Festival, Jarlath Regan’s “In Bits” is a strong pick. Regan is one of Ireland’s most-watched comedians - a decade of viral clips and hundreds of millions of views across social media - and this is a fresh show, not a greatest-hits set. After selling out his “Yer Man” tour in 2024 and taking it around the world, he spent the next couple of years writing new material specifically for this hour. The Examiner called him “the jewel in the Irish comedy crown,” and the show’s title is a promise: he intends to leave the room in bits. It suits anyone who wants a late-night laugh on a Friday-feeling Thursday, whether that’s a group of friends down for the festival or a couple making a night of it in Boyle.
The show plays at St Joseph’s Hall on The Crescent, a parish hall that the festival transforms into a proper gig venue with a full bar. Doors open at 8 pm and the show starts at 9 pm, so there is time to settle in before Regan takes the stage. It is a seated event, 18 and over only. “In Bits” is billed as a completely new stand-up hour - Regan has described it as “the funniest collection of bits I’ve ever written,” and as a show built to make every person in the room laugh. Expect observational comedy with Regan’s familiar self-deprecating warmth, rooted in Irish life but pitched broadly enough to travel across continents and sell out rooms in North America and the UK. Tickets are €25 and, based on the tour pattern, sell quickly - book directly through the Boyle Arts Festival website.
