What to Expect

The Kells Saturday market runs weekly in the town centre, featuring local food producers, artisan food stalls, fresh baked goods, vegetables, and crafts. An additional market at Brendan Doyle’s Yard on Farrell Street also runs on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, offering a broader mix of arts, crafts, artisan foods, and bric-a-brac, so a Saturday visit to Kells can take in two overlapping markets within a short walk of each other. Kells is a historic Boyne Valley town, best known for the Book of Kells connection and the round tower and high crosses in the churchyard, and the market adds a weekly reason to linger in the town centre beyond the heritage sites. Stallholders change from week to week depending on the season, with more fresh vegetables and soft fruit through the summer months and a heavier mix of baked goods, preserves, and crafts in the cooler months.

Getting There

Kells town centre sits on the N3 Dublin to Cavan road, approximately 50km northwest of Dublin and a short drive from Navan. Parking is available in the town square and on adjacent streets, and both market areas are within easy walking distance of the main car parks.
