Kildare Antique & Vintage Fair

At Kildare Town Centre · Market Yard, Kildare, Co. Kildare

Antique fair

A Sunday morning in Kildare Town is already a good one - add an antique and vintage fair to the Market Yard and it becomes the kind of day that disappears quickly. The Kildare Antique & Vintage Fair draws dealers and collectors from across the county and beyond, filling the town centre with furniture, jewellery, vintage clothing, rare books, and the sort of decorative oddities that are harder and harder to find on the high street. It suits anyone who browses slowly: the collector hunting a specific piece, the home decorator after something with a bit of age on it, or the curious visitor who just wants to see what turns up.

What to expect

The fair is organised by Kildare Antique Dealers and covers a wide spread of categories. Antique furniture tends to anchor the heavier end - painted dressers, occasional tables, mirrors, and decorative ironwork - while the smaller tables fill up with jewellery, silverware, vintage watches, and estate finds. Vintage clothing and accessories draw a separate crowd, particularly anything from the mid-century decades. Collectors of books, postcards, coins, and memorabilia find dealers who specialise in exactly that.

The format is a relaxed browse. Most fairs of this type in Ireland run stalls both indoors and in the yard itself, so dress for the weather if the forecast is mixed. Dealers are generally knowledgeable and happy to talk about provenance; if you see something you like but want to think about it, ask whether the dealer will be there all day. Admission is €5 on the door.

Getting there

Kildare Town sits on the main Dublin - Limerick rail line, with direct Irish Rail services from Heuston Station roughly every hour. The journey takes around 40 minutes. By road, the M7 motorway puts Kildare about an hour from Dublin city centre, less at the weekend. The Market Yard is in the centre of town, a short walk from the train station. Street parking is available around the town square, and there are public car parks within easy reach.

While you’re in Kildare

Kildare Town is compact and easy to spend a few hours in. The Japanese Gardens and the National Stud are on the southern edge of the town and draw visitors year-round. The Cathedral of St Brigid, one of the oldest Christian sites in Ireland, is worth a look before or after the fair. There is more to see in Kildare and across Co. Kildare.
