At Lisnavagh House and Gardens · Lisnavagh, Rathvilly, Co. Carlow
Féile Vegan is a three-day celebration of plant-based food, music, and ideas held each August in the grounds of Lisnavagh House and Gardens near Rathvilly. It is Ireland’s only vegan festival of this scale, and its tone is deliberately welcoming rather than preachy - curious omnivores are as much a part of the crowd as committed vegans. If you have ever wondered what plant-based living actually looks, sounds, and tastes like at its most joyful, this is a good place to find out.
The weekend runs from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August 2026, with gates opening at 1:30pm each day and programming from 2pm to 6pm, followed by evening music for those staying on site. The programme mixes live music acts, cooking demonstrations, talks from speakers on food, ecology, and community, and wellness workshops - all woven together in the parkland and walled gardens of a 19th-century Gothic Revival estate.
Food vendors cover the full range of plant-based cooking: street food, raw desserts, fermented drinks, and artisan produce. Alongside the food stalls you will find makers and traders selling cruelty-free fashion, eco-beauty products, and lifestyle goods. Children under 12 enter free, and companion animals are welcome on leads.
Camping, glamping, and cottage-style self-catering accommodation are available on the estate for those making a full weekend of it. Check feilevegan.ie for the latest ticket tiers and on-site accommodation options, as these tend to sell out ahead of the event.
The estate itself adds to the draw. Lisnavagh is an 800-acre property that has been in the McClintock-Bunbury family since the 17th century, and the 14 acres of restored gardens - designed by Daniel Robertson and including the Pleasure Grounds, American Gardens, and rhododendron beds - make for a genuinely beautiful backdrop between acts.
Rathvilly sits in north Carlow, roughly 75 km south of Dublin and about 30 km from Carlow town. The R747 is the main approach road and a car is the most practical option for most visitors. The village is also accessible from Baltinglass in Co. Wicklow (about 15 km to the north-east) via local roads. Check the event website before travel as the organisers sometimes arrange a shuttle service from nearby towns during festival weekends. Parking on the estate is typically available; follow any traffic management signs in place on the day.
The village is a quiet base with easy access to the Carlow and Wicklow uplands, and Lisnavagh itself is a reason to linger beyond the festival. There is more to see in Rathvilly and across Co. Carlow.
