Music Network brings a one-night gathering of four established traditional musicians to The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The bill pairs singers Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh and Pauline Scanlon with fiddle player Tom Morrow and guitarist John Doyle, four performers who each have long individual track records in Irish traditional music before this one-off collaboration.
The 90-minute concert is built around vocal harmony and instrumental backing rather than a single headline act. Nic Amhlaoibh and Scanlon are both established solo and group singers, and the promotional description for the show highlights their “seamless vocal blend, rich, emotive and deeply rooted in the tradition.” Morrow is a fiddle player with Dervish, one of Ireland’s best-known traditional bands, and Doyle was a founding member of the trad-folk group Solas. Together the programme is billed as blending “new interpretations with time-honoured tradition,” moving between close-harmony singing, fiddle and guitar instrumentals and narrative songs. The show is presented under the Music Network banner, the national organisation that tours professional classical and traditional concerts to venues around Ireland, often pairing musicians who do not normally perform together as a full-time group. It is a seated arts-centre concert, not a pub session, with a fixed 8pm start, a single set and no support act on the bill.
The Dock is on St. George’s Terrace in Carrick-on-Shannon town centre, a short walk from Carrick-on-Shannon railway station on the Dublin to Sligo line and from the town’s N4 bus stop. On-street and town-centre car parking are available nearby.
