Live Music at Thursford Bar Clonmel

At Thursford Bar · Clonmel Town Centre, Co. Tipperary

Live music performance at Thursford Bar in Clonmel

A Sunday night out in Clonmel with live music and no cover charge is a straightforward pleasure, and the Thursford Bar delivers exactly that on 26 July. This is a local pub doing what local pubs do well - putting musicians on a small stage and letting the evening take care of itself. The mix of traditional Irish music and contemporary covers means it suits people who want to hear a good session as much as those who just want background warmth while they catch up over a pint. If you are passing through Tipperary on a Sunday and want a relaxed, cost-free night out, this is the kind of thing that makes a trip memorable.

What to expect

The music runs from 9:30pm and covers a mix of traditional Irish tunes and contemporary covers, with local bands and musicians doing the work. That combination is common in Tipperary pubs - sets that move between reels and slow airs and then shift into something more recent - and it keeps a mixed crowd happy. The atmosphere is relaxed and social rather than a seated gig format; people talk, people listen, people drift between the two. Thursford Bar operates full bar service throughout the evening, so there is no pressure to arrive with a plan beyond finding a spot.

Admission is free. No booking is required for a night like this - arrive, settle in, and see who is playing.

Getting there

Clonmel sits on the River Suir in south Tipperary, roughly equidistant between Waterford (40km east) and Limerick (80km west). By road, the N24 connects it to Waterford and Limerick; the N8 and R688 run north toward Cashel and Cahir. Bus Eireann serves Clonmel on several routes, including the 55 and 57 from Waterford and the 55 from Limerick, with the bus stop close to the town centre. Clonmel does not have a working rail connection currently - the nearest active station is Cahir (18km) on the Waterford to Limerick Junction line.

Street parking is available around Clonmel town centre, and there are car parks off Mitchell Street and Emmet Street within a short walk of the pub.

While you’re in Clonmel

Clonmel is Tipperary’s largest town, with a strong food scene along O’Connell Street, the medieval Franciscan Friary just off the main street, and the River Suir path for a walk before the evening starts. The town also sits at the edge of the Comeragh Mountains, making it a useful base for walkers and cyclists. There is more to see in Clonmel and across Co. Tipperary.
