Me, Myself and Ireland

At Clonmel Junction Arts Festival venues · Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

Me, Myself and Ireland comedy performance

Comedy and identity make for a sharp combination on stage, and that is exactly what this opening-night performance at Clonmel Junction Arts Festival sets out to explore. “Me, Myself and Ireland” takes the question of what it means to be Irish today and puts it through the lens of live comedy theatre - expect sharp observation, recognisable awkwardness, and a few uncomfortable laughs at ourselves. It is the kind of show that works well for anyone who has ever felt simultaneously proud and baffled by being from this country. A good option for a solo night out, a date, or friends who enjoy theatre that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

What to expect

The show is a comedy performance rather than a stand-up set - it sits closer to theatre, using character and narrative to poke at Irish identity and contemporary life. It opens the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival, which runs from 3 to 12 July 2026 and this year carries the theme “Exchanges,” exploring cultural mixing and blended identities. That framing sits neatly behind a show about Irishness - what it inherits, what it invents, and what it quietly contradicts.

The Junction Festival has been running since 2001 and has grown to draw over 40,000 visitors across its ten days. Its venues range from the intimate STAC Chapel on Kickham Plaza to Old St Mary’s Church (a 13th-century building with seating for 250+), and it makes a point of bringing events into unexpected spaces around the town. The specific venue for this performance will be listed on the festival website closer to the date and in the printed programme.

Getting there

Clonmel sits on the N24 between Waterford and Tipperary town. From Dublin, it is roughly two hours by road via the M8 and N74. Bus Éireann runs services to Clonmel from Dublin, Limerick, and Waterford - check the Bus Éireann website for timetables as services vary by day. The town centre has pay-and-display parking on Gladstone Street and around the Showgrounds area. During the festival, parking near the main venues fills early in the evening, so arriving by 7:30pm is sensible.

While you’re in Clonmel

Clonmel is Tipperary’s county town - it sits on the River Suir and has a compact, walkable centre with good pubs and places to eat before or after a show. The Kickham Plaza area, right in the middle of town, is the informal hub of the festival during its ten-day run. There is more to see in Clonmel and across Co. Tipperary.
