At Solstice Arts Centre · Railway Street, Navan, Co. Meath
A Sundance hit and one of 2025’s most talked-about films, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You arrives at Solstice Arts Centre in Navan on a Wednesday evening worth clearing the diary for. Directed by Mary Bronstein and starring Rose Byrne - who won a Silver Bear at Berlin, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar nomination for this role - it is a film about a woman at the absolute limit. Raw, uncomfortable, and genuinely hard to shake, it suits anyone who likes character-driven drama with real bite.
Rose Byrne plays Linda, a mother whose child has a mysterious illness. Her husband is absent, a missing person case edges into her life, and her sessions with her therapist - played with dry, unhelpful energy by Conan O’Brien - are going nowhere. Director Mary Bronstein keeps the camera claustrophobically close, building pressure that rarely lets up. Critics called it “a tour de force of matriarchy fury”; the Rotten Tomatoes consensus settles on “thunderous force” and “an uncompromising vision.” This is not a comfortable watch, but it is a compelling one. The screening is part of the ACCESS Cinema summer programme - ACCESS Cinema is Ireland’s national network for cultural film exhibition, bringing arthouse and award-winning titles to regional venues. The Solstice programme runs Wednesday evenings from May to August 2026, and a season bundle lets you book four or more films at €6.50 each. Cert 15A, 113 minutes, English language.
