At Croagh Patrick · Murrisk, Westport, Co. Mayo
Reek Sunday is the last Sunday in July and draws more than 20,000 pilgrims to climb Croagh Patrick (764m) in Co. Mayo. The climb follows a well-defined route with prayer stations along the way, and Masses are celebrated throughout the day in the small summit church. The Archdiocese of Armagh’s Diocesan Youth Office (ADYC) organises group trips to the mountain for young people from across the diocese. The climb typically takes 3 to 4 hours return and the terrain is rough underfoot.
