Roscommon International Film Festival (RIFF) 2026

The Roscommon International Film Festival returns to Roscommon Arts Centre for its fourth year, running Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 October 2026. The festival opens with RIFF Script to Screen, a networking and development afternoon for writers and filmmakers, on the Thursday, followed by two full days of curated independent film screenings on the Friday and Saturday.

What to Expect

RIFF Script to Screen on Thursday 22 October is aimed at screenwriters and filmmakers at any stage, from first-timers to those with projects already under way, and runs as an afternoon of guest speakers, industry discussion and informal networking on the journey from screenplay to finished film. Tickets are €25 and pre-booking is essential. The main festival on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October screens curated blocks of independent drama, comedy, horror, thriller, documentary, animation and children’s films from Ireland and around the world, alongside a competition judged across ten categories including Best Documentary, Best International Short Film, Best Irish Short Film and screenplay awards for both Irish and international writers. Now in its fourth year, RIFF is run by festival directors CC Braithwaite, a BAFTA-winning crew member for her work on Emmerdale, and Andrew Hannon, an author and screenwriter. The full screening programme and guest speaker line-up is due to be announced on roscommonfilm.com in early October.

Getting There

Roscommon Arts Centre is on Circular Road in Roscommon town, a short walk from the town centre and the train station, which sits on Iarnrod Eireann’s Dublin-Westport/Galway line. Bus Eireann routes connect the town to Athlone, Galway and Sligo.
