Roscommon Gaels host Boyle in Round 4 of the 2026 Connacht Gold Roscommon U16 Football Championship on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, throwing in at 7:30pm at Lisnamult. Both clubs are among the county’s largest, drawing on sizeable underage panels, and the U16 grade is the last underage step before Minor, so these games carry real weight for a generation of players moving toward adult football.
The U16 Championship is organised in divisions by strength, with this fixture part of the top division’s Round 4, played the same week as parallel rounds at Minor and U14 level across the county. Roscommon Gaels, based at Lisnamult on the edge of Roscommon town, have developed their grounds since 2002 into one of the county’s best-resourced underage set-ups, while Boyle, one of the biggest towns in Roscommon, fields a strong underage structure of its own. Games at this grade are typically played over two halves with mentors from both clubs on the sideline focused as much on development as on the result. Expect a decent crowd of parents and club members rather than a general public gate, floodlit conditions if the evening light has gone by throw-in, and a genuinely competitive game between two clubs with a long-standing rivalry.
Lisnamult is on the edge of Roscommon town, off the N61, a short drive from the town centre. There is no dedicated bus stop at the grounds, but Roscommon town’s Bus Eireann stop on the main street is a few minutes’ drive away, and the venue has on-site parking.
