Cavan U16 Camogie Championship 2026

Camogie is a smaller scene in Cavan than football, but the underage club game is alive and well, run through a proper two-division county championship. The U16 Camogie Championship pairs clubs across Division 1 and Division 2 in weekly round-robin fixtures through the summer. Round 5, played on Thursday, 23 July, saw four games across the county, from Laragh United hosting Ballinagh to Bailieborough taking on Castletara, and the competition is expected to continue into August on the same weekly rhythm.

What to expect

Division 1’s Round 5 paired Laragh United against Ballinagh at Ballinagh GAA Grounds and Drumgoon against Denn at O’Boyle Park, Drumgoon, while Division 2 saw Bailieborough host Castletara at St Anne’s Park and Kill face Lacken GAA at Rathluden Park - all four games throwing in at 7:30pm on the same evening. That weekly Thursday pattern has held through the championship, with clubs from Laragh to Bailieborough and Kill fielding underage teams that form the pipeline for Cavan’s adult camogie panels. Games are played at club grounds rather than Kingspan Breffni, so expect small, local pitches and a handful of parents on the sideline rather than a big crowd. Getting there

Fixtures move between club grounds across the county, including Ballinagh, Drumgoon, Bailieborough and Kill, so the venue changes week to week. Most grounds are accessible only by car and are signposted locally rather than from the main routes. Cavan town, roughly an hour and twenty minutes from Dublin via the N3/M3, is the most useful base if you are following more than one fixture.
