Sarah Long - Residency and Exhibition at Triskel Sample Project Space

At Triskel Arts Centre · Tobin Street, Cork City, Co. Cork

Sarah Long residency and exhibition at Triskel Sample Project Space Cork

Visual artist Sarah Long takes up a residency and public exhibition at the Triskel Sample Project Space in Cork City this autumn, with the show running from 3 September through to 25 October 2026. Long’s practice centres on landscape as both natural phenomenon and cultural construct - drawing and painting are her core mediums, chosen precisely because of how intimately they connect to the act of reading a landscape. If you have any interest in contemporary Irish visual art, or simply want to see new work being made in real time, this is a worthwhile stop in the city.

What to expect

The Triskel Sample Project Space is a joint initiative between Triskel Arts Centre and Sample-Studios, one of Ireland’s largest artist studio networks. Since it launched in March 2024 it has hosted 44 artists across 12 residencies and 13 exhibitions, all free to the public. The model is deliberately open - the space is a hybrid between a working studio and a public gallery, so visitors can see work in progress rather than a finished, polished show.

Long has previously exhibited at the West Cork Arts Centre, where her residency work explored the boundaries, borders and walls that shape how we experience and understand landscape. She uses drawing, painting and mixed media as tools to probe those ideas - what divides land, who draws those lines, and what those divisions mean beyond the purely physical. Expect work that is exploratory in character, with the exhibition developing alongside the residency across its near two-month run.

Getting there

Triskel Arts Centre is on Tobin Street in Cork City centre, a short walk from Grand Parade and the South Mall. Cork is well served by rail from Dublin Heuston (roughly two and a half hours) and by Bus Eireann and Aircoach services from multiple cities. If driving, the city has several multi-storey car parks on the South Mall and nearby streets - paid parking is standard in the city centre.

While you’re in Cork

Cork City has a compact, walkable centre with the English Market, the Crawford Art Gallery and the Lee and its quays all within easy reach of Triskel. There is more to see in Cork and across Co. Cork.
