Sligo Baroque Festival

At The Glasshouse Hotel · Sligo, Co. Sligo

Chamber musicians performing baroque music

Sligo Baroque Festival brings a weekend of baroque chamber music to the town on the last weekend of September, an established fixture in the north-west’s classical calendar supported by the Arts Council, Sligo County Council and the Sligo Tourist Development Association. The organisers have confirmed the 2026 dates as 25 to 27 September on their social channels, though the full lineup and venue schedule had not yet been published at the time of writing. It is a small, specialist festival rather than a mass event, drawing a loyal audience of chamber music listeners from across Connacht.

What to expect

Past editions of the festival have centred on recitals by visiting baroque soloists and small ensembles, performing on period or period-style instruments in intimate settings rather than a large concert hall. Recent years’ programming has been based around venues including The Glasshouse Hotel and the Niland Gallery in Sligo town, with recitals typically running across the Friday evening through Sunday afternoon of the festival weekend. The festival keeps a mailing list and social media presence where the 2026 programme, ticket prices and exact venue allocation are being released in the run-up to September - anyone planning to attend should check sligobaroquefestival.com or their Instagram (@sligobaroquemusicfestival) closer to the date for confirmed listings and booking links.

Getting there

Sligo town is served by Bus Eireann from Dublin, Galway and Donegal into Sligo Bus Station on Lord Edward Street, and by rail from Dublin Connolly to Sligo MacDiarmada Station, both a short walk from the town centre. Drivers can use the multi-storey car park at Rockwood Parade or on-street parking around the town centre, though spaces are tighter on a festival weekend.

While you’re in Sligo

A baroque music weekend pairs easily with the rest of what Sligo town has to offer - the Model arts centre, the Garavogue river walk and the county library and museum are all within a few minutes of the town centre hotels. There is more to see in Sligo and across Co. Sligo.
