The O Dubhda Challenge takes place in Enniscrone on Sunday, 4 October 2026, offering a choice of three distances: a 10km run, a half marathon, or a 20-mile challenge. All routes start and finish on Main Street and run on tarmac roads through the Enniscrone and Castleconnor townlands, taking in the scenic coastal countryside of west Sligo along the way. Enniscrone itself is a well-known seaside town with a long beach and Blue Flag water, so runners and supporters alike often turn race morning into a longer day out, with a walk on the strand or a stop at the town’s seaweed baths once the race is done. Early October timing puts the half marathon and 20-mile options within a few weeks of the Dublin City Marathon, which is part of why the longer distances draw a steady stream of marathon-training entrants each year.
Enniscrone is on the R297 on the Sligo-Mayo border, about 40 minutes’ drive from Sligo town. There is on-street and nearby car parking in the village, though spaces fill up quickly on race morning given the road closures needed for the route.
