The Drop Bubble Show

At Clonmel Junction Arts Festival venues · Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

The Drop Bubble Show family theatre production

A Saturday morning at the theatre with a young child in tow can go one of two ways. The Drop Bubble Show is firmly the good kind - a puppetry-led performance built for families, landing in Clonmel on 4 July as part of the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival’s 2026 EXCHANGES programme. It is short enough to hold small attention spans, imaginative enough to keep adults watching, and the kind of thing children will replay on the way home.

What to expect

The show blends puppetry and live performance to tell a story through movement and character, aimed squarely at younger audiences and the adults who bring them. Junction Arts Festival has run family programming as a cornerstone of its July festival since 2001, and the EXCHANGES theme for 2026 - which explores cultural contact and blended traditions - runs through everything from headline acts to children’s events. Two performances run on the day, at 11:00am and 2:00pm, so there is some flexibility depending on whether mornings or afternoons work better for your group. The festival uses a cluster of Clonmel’s central venues - including the South Tipperary Arts Centre, the Main Guard and Clonmel Library - so check the specific room on the festival website when booking.

Getting there

Clonmel sits on the N24, roughly equidistant from Waterford and Tipperary town, and is well signposted from the M8 (Cork to Dublin motorway) via the Cahir junction. Bus Éireann runs services from Waterford, Limerick and Thurles, with the main stop on Parnell Street in the town centre, a short walk from the festival venues. There is pay-and-display parking along the quays and at the Showgrounds Shopping Centre, which is also where the festival box office is located. The town is compact on foot once you are parked or off the bus.

While you’re in Clonmel

The town makes a pleasant half-day around the show - there is a good riverside walk along the Suir, and the Market Place area has cafes worth a stop before or after. There is more to see in Clonmel and across Co. Tipperary.
