Super Snap Scape (2 Day Workshop)

At Strule Arts Centre · Townhall Square, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, BT78 1BL

Young person photographing the riverside for a collage art project

Strule Arts Centre in Omagh runs a two-day photography and mixed media workshop for young people called Super Snap Scape on Thursday, 6 and Friday, 7 August 2026, split into two two-hour sessions. Aimed at 12 to 17 year olds, the workshop takes the five senses as its theme and combines a riverside walk with photography, collage and painting.

What to Expect

Each session opens with a short mindfulness exercise to help participants tune into their surroundings before they head out. The group then takes a short, facilitator-guided walk along the River Strule, using phones or cameras to capture images that respond to what they see, hear, smell and feel along the way. Back in the workshop space, those photographs become the starting point for expressive, layered artworks built up with watercolour, ink and collage materials. Strule frames the two days around creativity and visual storytelling, observation and mindfulness, experimentation with mixed media, and group sharing and discussion, so participants leave with both a finished piece of art and some new photography and collage skills. The centre notes that spaces are limited and recommends booking early. Super Snap Scape sits within Strule’s wider summer workshop programme, which this year also includes a solo textile exhibition and an evening wet felting class by artist Sharyn Kelly running in the same building. The venue itself is a multi-purpose arts complex with a 384-seat theatre, a recording studio, a dance studio and a visual arts gallery alongside the room used for workshops like this one.
