South West College Art & Design Students Exhibition

At Strule Arts Centre · Townhall Square, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, BT78 1BL

Student artwork on display at Strule Arts Centre

Three award-winning South West College art and design students, Mary Gormley, Tinashe Makore and Rachel Heuchan, have work on show at Strule Arts Centre in Omagh from Saturday, 4 July to Saturday, 29 August 2026. The pop-up exhibition sits on Level 3 of the arts centre, separate from the main Strule Gallery downstairs, which shows Sharyn Kelly’s My World in Wool for part of the same run.

What to Expect

The exhibition brings together a range of creative disciplines from the three students, spanning fine art painting, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and mixed media. It is billed by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council as a platform for emerging artists to present their work to a wider audience than a college degree show alone would reach, and as a way of highlighting the breadth of disciplines taught on South West College’s art and design courses. Council representatives have framed the show as recognition of the effort behind the students’ portfolios and of the value of exposing new work to a general public audience rather than only examiners and family. The display runs for a full eight weeks, considerably longer than a typical end-of-year college show, giving visitors to Strule across the summer repeated chances to see it. Strule Arts Centre is a multi-purpose venue as well as a gallery space, housing a 384-seat theatre, a 125-seat lecture theatre, a recording studio and a dance studio, so the Level 3 display can easily be combined with a look at the rest of the building or a stop in its café.
