Cookstown Parish Pilgrimage to Knock

At Holy Trinity Church · Chapel Street, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone

Coach pilgrimage group departing for Knock Shrine

Cookstown Parish is running a two-day pilgrimage to Knock Shrine in Co. Mayo, departing Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 and returning the following evening. Knock is Ireland’s national Marian shrine, built on the site of an 1879 apparition, and parish pilgrimages of this kind remain a regular feature of the Catholic calendar in Tyrone, offering parishioners a chance to pray together away from home as well as a short break. The trip is organised through the parish rather than a commercial tour operator, with booking handled directly by a parish contact.

What to expect

The coach leaves Holy Trinity Church at 8:45am on the Tuesday, with lunch taken en route to Mayo. Pilgrims stay overnight at the Knock House Hotel, with an evening meal included, before a full day at the shrine itself on the Wednesday, taking in the Apparition Chapel, the Basilica and the shrine’s grounds, and typically the opportunity to attend Mass and other devotions on site. The group returns to Cookstown on the Wednesday evening. The package price of £185 per person covers coach travel, one night’s bed and breakfast and an evening meal at the Knock House Hotel, making it a relatively accessible way to visit the shrine compared with arranging the trip independently. Places are limited to coach capacity, so early booking through the parish is advised for anyone wanting to travel with the group.

Getting there

The pilgrimage departs from Holy Trinity Church on Chapel Street in Cookstown town centre, with pilgrims meeting at the church ahead of the 8:45am departure. Travel to Knock itself is entirely by coach as part of the package, so no separate transport arrangements are needed once booked.

While you’re in Cookstown

Cookstown is known for its long, wide main street running down from the church toward the town centre, with cafes nearby for a coffee before an early coach departure. There is more to see in Cookstown and across Co. Tyrone.
