Ceramics Summer Camp

Strule Arts Centre runs a three-day ceramics camp from Wednesday, 29 July to Friday, 31 July 2026, giving children aged 8 to 13 a proper introduction to working with clay rather than a single one-off session. Each morning runs from 10:30am to 12:30pm in the centre’s ceramics studio in Omagh town centre.

What to expect

Over the three mornings, children build up skills in hand-building and decorating clay, working toward finished pieces they take home once fired. Because the camp runs across three consecutive days rather than a single afternoon, there is time to let work dry between stages, add detail and colour, and see a project through from a lump of clay to a finished object, in a way a one-off workshop cannot manage. Tutors keep the age range, 8 to 13, working at a similar pace, and the small-group studio setting means individual attention rather than a lecture-style class. It sits alongside Strule’s wider summer programme of kids’ craft, art and dance sessions, so families juggling more than one child can often find something for a younger or older sibling running in the same week.

Getting there

Strule Arts Centre is on Townhall Square in Omagh town centre, an easy walk from the bus station and the main town-centre car parks, making drop-off and collection straightforward across the three mornings.

While you’re in Omagh

The camp’s midday finish leaves the afternoon free to explore the rest of the town, including Grange Park and the riverside walks where the Drumragh and Camowen meet to form the Strule. There is more to see in Omagh and across Co. Tyrone.
