At Ulster American Folk Park · 2 Mellon Road, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, BT78 5QU
A summer evening of folk and country music at one of Northern Ireland’s most distinctive outdoor settings, this concert closes out the Ulster American Folk Park’s landmark 50th anniversary season. The programme - “Stories of Us” - has run all summer exploring three centuries of Ulster emigration to America, and this open-air concert is its finale, timed to coincide with USA-NI250, the joint commemoration of 250 years of American independence. It suits music fans who want more than a standard venue show: the concert takes place within the museum grounds themselves, surrounded by reconstructed cottages, dockside buildings and period streetscapes that tell the story of the people who left these townlands for the New World.
Headlining is Gareth, a singer-songwriter from Castlederg in Co. Tyrone, now based in Nashville, who blends Irish roots with country music and storytelling. He has accumulated tens of millions of views on social media, charted internationally, and made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry - a significant milestone for any country artist. Joining him are Niamh Noade, an Armagh-born Celtic and electric harpist who reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent and is known for her striking fusion of traditional and contemporary styles, and Meadhbh Walsh, a fiddle player and singer-songwriter from Co. Cork with a following of over 250,000 across social media. Further acts are still to be confirmed. The event runs from 5pm to 11pm under a stretch tent, so the show continues regardless of weather. The setting inside the Folk Park itself is genuinely unlike most concert venues in Ireland.
