Summer Bandstand Programme

At Grange Park · Grange Park, Omagh, Co. Tyrone

Summer Bandstand Programme Omagh

Every Sunday through July and August, Grange Park in Omagh fills with live music under an open sky, all of it free. Fermanagh and Omagh District Council runs this annual Summer Bandstand Programme as a proper gift to the town - a couple of hours of music in a Green Flag park by the River Drumragh, with no ticket to buy and no queue to join. It suits families with kids, couples looking for an easy afternoon out, and anyone who wants to take in a bit of Tyrone summer without spending a penny.

What to expect

Performances run from 1.00pm to 3.30pm each Sunday, with a different act or group on the bandstand each week. The programme draws on local and visiting musicians, and the style shifts week to week - you might get acoustic solo sets one Sunday, a brass band the next, country covers or swing the Sunday after. The council actively recruits established and emerging artists, so the line-up rewards repeat visits rather than being the same act on rotation. Bring a blanket or a folding chair; the park has picnic facilities and flat grassy areas around the bandstand. Weather governs the day, so check the council’s events listings the week before if the forecast looks uncertain.

Getting there

Omagh sits at the junction of the A5 and A505 in central Tyrone - roughly 50 minutes south-west of Derry and an hour north-west of Enniskillen. Grange Park is just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre; there is parking at the park itself and additional town-centre car parks nearby. Bus Eireann and Translink serve Omagh from several directions; the bus station is in the town centre, a short walk from the park entrance.

While you’re in Omagh

The Strule Arts Centre sits in the town centre and usually has exhibitions or performances running across the summer. The Camowen and Drumragh rivers meet at Omagh, and there are decent riverside walks. There is more to see in Omagh and across Co. Tyrone.
