At Strule Arts Centre · Townhall Square, Omagh, Co. Tyrone BT78 1DW
Curtains, a musical comedy whodunit set backstage at a struggling 1950s Boston theatre, plays Strule Arts Centre in Omagh from Wednesday, 29 July to Saturday, 1 August 2026. When the leading lady is murdered on opening night, the entire cast and crew are confined to the theatre while a detective, who turns out to be a frustrated musical theatre fan himself, works through the suspects.
The show has music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the team behind Cabaret and Chicago, with a book by Rupert Holmes built on an original concept by Peter Stone. It plays the murder-mystery plot for comedy as much as suspense, sending up backstage theatre life and the conventions of the Golden Age musical along the way, while still delivering a full score. Strule Arts Centre is presenting the show with a half-cabaret layout for part of the auditorium, table seating in rows A to C where drinks are allowed, and standard tiered seating behind it in rows D to K. Performances run nightly at 7:30pm across the five-night run, with pre-show entertainment from 7pm.
Strule Arts Centre is on Townhall Square in Omagh town centre, overlooking the River Strule, within easy walking distance of the town’s car parks.
