Artworks 2026: Hold This at VISUAL Carlow

What to Expect

Hold This is the 2026 edition of Artworks, the annual open-call exhibition presented by VISUAL Carlow in partnership with Carlow Arts Festival. Artists were invited to consider ideas of exchange - of skills, ideas and knowledge - and how analogue, interpersonal exchanges overlap, interact and sometimes conflict with technology. The selected works span visual art in all media, with some incorporating performance and workshop elements. In the centre of the Link Gallery, VISUAL’s workshop tables are set up for the duration of the exhibition, usable on a drop-in basis by visitors and hosting workshops, meetings and exchanges throughout the summer.

• Free admission to the galleries.

• Drop-in workshop tables in the Link Gallery invite visitor participation throughout the summer.

• Selected artists also deliver workshops and performances on agreed dates throughout June, July and August - check visualcarlow.ie for the full schedule.

• VISUAL Carlow is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5:30pm and Sunday 12pm-5:30pm; closed Monday.

Getting There

VISUAL Carlow is on Old Dublin Road near Carlow town centre. The venue is a short walk from Carlow train and bus station on Railway Road.
