Summer Stars is the free national children’s reading programme organised through Libraries Ireland. In 2026 it runs from 15 June to 31 August at all four Carlow library branches: Carlow Central Library (Tullow Street), Tullow Library, Muine Bheag (Bagenalstown) Library, and Borris Library. Children sign up, log their reading, and earn a certificate. Activities during the programme include storytelling sessions, author visits, craft workshops, and digital reading through the BorrowBox app.
