Gardening for the Future is a recurring workshop and talk series hosted in the outdoor spaces and gardens of VISUAL Carlow throughout summer 2026. Sessions cover a range of topics including seed saving with Jo Newton, author of A Seed Saving Handbook for Ireland; planting pollinator-friendly containers with flowers and edibles; tours of nesting sites and VISUAL’s bee hives with Dee Sewell and Molly Aylesbury; wildflower management and mowing techniques for biodiversity; and conserving water and irrigation techniques to future-proof gardens. Participants in the planting sessions are welcome to take home their own container.
Workshop series runs throughout the summer months linked to the Hold This exhibition programme.
All sessions are free of charge; some may require booking in advance - check visualcarlow.ie for individual session dates and details.
