Kate O'Shea: Mycelium at VISUAL Carlow

What to Expect

Mycelium is a new solo exhibition by artist Kate O’Shea, presented at VISUAL Carlow as part of the summer 2026 programme. Kate’s collaborative practice centres on the exchange of knowledge and practical skills as a way to expand our understanding of the world. The exhibition acts as a meeting point between archives, communities and political imaginaries. It brings together textiles, sculpture, sound and artist-made books in an immersive installation. Printed and hand-worked textiles anchor the work alongside sculptural elements and a sound component that draws on collective and personal histories.

• Exhibition runs 28 May to 30 August 2026 alongside Artworks 2026: Hold This.

• Free admission.

• VISUAL Carlow is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5:30pm and Sunday 12pm-5:30pm; closed Monday.

• Kate O’Shea’s work was also part of the selection panel for Artworks 2026.

VISUAL Carlow is on Old Dublin Road, a short walk from Carlow town centre and Carlow train station.
