At VISUAL Carlow · Old Dublin Road, Carlow Town, Co. Carlow
Our Place is a long-term, socially engaged art project that champions the human rights of people living with intellectual disabilities, placing their ideas, talents and lived experience at the centre of artmaking and exhibition design. Carlow Arts Festival commissioned the Our Place team to create a series of sound artworks exploring human rights and happiness in collaboration with people supported by the Delta Centre Day Service. The recordings inform a multi-sensory, immersive installation of sound and light that plays throughout the gallery. Lead artists AlanJames Burns and Sinead McCann worked with co-designers Patrick Fitzgerald and Tony Davis on the project, supported by St John of God Liffey Services Dublin.
Exhibition runs until 30 August 2026 at VISUAL Carlow.
Free admission.
Suitable for all audiences; the installation is accessible and inclusive by design.
VISUAL Carlow is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5:30pm and Sunday 12pm-5:30pm; closed Monday.
The project also features programming and events during the summer months - check visualcarlow.ie for updates.
