Cavan Equestrian Centre’s Exclusive Sale of 3-Year-Olds takes place on Thursday 20 August 2026 as part of its Autumn Horse Championships show - one of the landmark fixtures on the Irish sport horse calendar. Entry to the grounds is free, and the atmosphere on a sale day draws a mix of professional producers, international buyers, and horse enthusiasts who simply want to see what Ireland’s young horse pipeline looks like up close.
The sale focuses exclusively on three-year-old showjumpers, eventers, and sport horses - horses at the very start of their competition careers. Lots are selected in advance through formal selection days where young horses must jump a judged course, so what you see in the ring on the day has already been vetted. Cavan’s 3-Year-Old Sale has built a reputation for attracting genuine competition-prospect horses, not just farm horses given a quick lick of polish.

Cavan Equestrian Centre is at Latt, roughly 3km south of Cavan town on the N3 - the main Dublin to Cavan road. From Dublin, the N3 runs directly from the M50 ring road and takes around 90 minutes. From Belfast, take the A3 to Monaghan and then the N54 into Cavan. The centre has on-site parking. Bus Eireann runs services from Dublin Busaras to Cavan town, from where the equestrian centre is a short taxi or arranged lift away.
