Cavan Summer Horse Championships 2026

At Cavan International Equestrian Centre · Latt, Cavan, H12 X9K1, Co. Cavan

Show jumping at Cavan Summer Horse Championships

Three days of competitive show jumping spread across a midsummer weekend in Co. Cavan - the Summer Horse & Young Rider Championships at Cavan International Equestrian Centre draws competitors from across Ireland and beyond, but it rewards spectators too. If you have any interest in horses at all, this is an easy day out: the action is close, the atmosphere is relaxed, and you can watch riders at real championship level without paying a premium.

What to expect

The championships run from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July, with classes across multiple heights and categories for horses. Young Rider classes sit alongside open horse sections, so across three days you see everything from rising junior competitors to seasoned combinations. The centre operates some of Ireland’s best indoor and outdoor arenas, so the competition runs to a professional standard regardless of weather. On-site stabling means the horses and riders are based at the venue for the full run, which gives the event the feel of a proper championship camp rather than a single-day show. Horse & Country TV has previously broadcast events from this venue, which speaks to the calibre of competition hosted here. The café on site keeps you going between classes, and there are equestrian retail units if you find yourself drawn in by the tack.

Getting there

Cavan town sits on the N3 national primary road, roughly an hour from Dublin, an hour from Belfast, and about 90 minutes from Galway. The equestrian centre is at Latt, a short drive from the town centre, well signposted from the N3. By car is the practical option - public transport links to Cavan are limited, though Bus Eireann runs services from Dublin Busaras to Cavan town, from where a taxi to Latt is straightforward. Parking on site is standard for equestrian venues of this size.

While you’re in Cavan

Cavan town has a decent range of cafes, pubs, and independent shops within easy reach, and the surrounding lake country is worth exploring if you are staying overnight. There is more to see in Cavan and across Co. Cavan.
