Inspireland Animation Camp for Kids

At Inspireland · South Tipperary, Co. Tipperary

Inspireland animation workshop

A four-day summer camp where children learn to make their own animations, design original characters and build skills in illustration, comics and mixed media - run by Inspireland, one of Ireland’s most established creative camp providers. This is a good option for kids aged 8 to 18 who prefer drawing and storytelling to sport, and for parents looking for something genuinely hands-on in South Tipperary during the August school holidays. Each child works on their own projects, guided by experienced art instructors, in a small-group setting that is deliberately relaxed rather than competitive.

What to expect

Over the four days, participants work through a range of creative disciplines - character design, storyboarding, animation techniques, illustration, collage and mixed media. The emphasis is on learning by doing rather than following a rigid syllabus, so children with very different skill levels tend to manage well together. Inspireland structures its camps so that each day brings a new challenge, and by the end of the week most participants have a small body of work to take home. Materials and equipment are provided, and the source listing notes that lunch and snacks are included. Age-appropriate groupings keep older teens separate from younger children where needed. Group discounts are available for families booking more than one place, and early booking is recommended as these camps fill up. Check the Inspireland website for confirmed pricing and to reserve a place - current indicative pricing for similar Inspireland camps elsewhere in Ireland runs around €160 for a four or five day camp.

Getting there

Tipperary town sits on the main N24 road between Limerick and Clonmel, roughly 30 km south-west of Cashel. By car it is about 25 minutes from Limerick, 40 minutes from Clonmel and just under two hours from Dublin via the M7 and M8. Irish Rail runs regular services between Limerick and Waterford that stop at Tipperary station on Limerick Junction Road, making the town straightforwardly accessible by train for families coming from Limerick city. Street parking is available in the town centre, and there is a public car park off Bank Place. Contact Inspireland directly if you need specific directions to the venue.

While you’re in Tipperary

Tipperary town is a compact market town with a good main street and the River Ara running through it - useful to know if you want to pick up lunch or browse before or after drop-off. The surrounding county is rich in historic sites, from the Rock of Cashel to Cahir Castle, and the Tipperary countryside rewards a slow afternoon drive. There is more to see in Tipperary and across Co. Tipperary.
