Portlaoise AFC holds a two-night live music fundraiser at Kavanagh’s Courtyard on Friday and Saturday, 7 and 8 August 2026, to help fund the club’s new astro pitch. Some of Portlaoise’s best-known local bands play across the two nights, with proceeds going directly toward the pitch, due to open later in 2026. It is the kind of grassroots fundraiser that keeps a community football club’s facilities moving forward without relying solely on grants.
Live sets from a line-up of Portlaoise bands across both nights, staged in the outdoor courtyard space at Kavanaghs on Main Street, with the bar open throughout. The atmosphere is informal and local, closer to a big club social than a ticketed concert, and expect a strong turnout from the football club’s own players, coaches and families alongside the wider Portlaoise music crowd. Portlaoise AFC is one of the county town’s main underage and adult soccer clubs, and the new astro pitch will give it an all-weather training and match surface for the first time, cutting down on cancelled sessions through the winter months. Money raised on the night goes straight toward that build, rather than into general club running costs.
Kavanagh’s Courtyard is part of Kavanaghs Bar and Venue at 28 Main Street, Portlaoise, right in the centre of town. Portlaoise train station, on the Dublin to Cork and Dublin to Limerick lines, is a short walk away, and public parking is available around the town centre.
Portlaoise is the county town and the natural base for exploring the rest of Co. Laois before or after the fundraiser.
