Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise hosts a family theatre matinee of The Mis-Adventures of the Three Little Pigs on Saturday, 8 August 2026 at 3:00pm. The touring production reworks the familiar fairy tale into a sing-along musical show built for a young family audience, running for around two hours including interval, and lands during the school summer holidays when Dunamaise typically programmes its family shows.
The show follows the three pig siblings as they build their houses and run into the Big Bad Wolf, told through songs, dance routines and audience participation rather than straight narration. Dunamaise calls it a feel good, sing-your-heart-out, dance-in-your-seat production, which gives a fair sense of the pace, closer to panto energy than quiet storytelling. It is pitched at younger children and their families rather than teenagers, with simple humour, bright staging and enough movement to hold the attention of a lively theatre full of under-tens. Dunamaise’s studio and auditorium spaces are used regularly for this kind of touring family theatre, so the venue is well set up for prams, early arrival and a relaxed atmosphere before the show starts.
