Chris Stapleton: Tennessee Whiskey Show

At Dunamaise Arts Centre · Church Street, Portlaoise, Co. Laois

Chris Stapleton tribute show poster

Singer Kevin Fagan and a full live band bring the Tennessee Whiskey Show, a tribute to American country star Chris Stapleton, to Dunamaise Arts Centre on Friday, 4 September 2026. The touring production covers Stapleton’s catalogue, from the ballads that built his reputation as a songwriter in Nashville to the rock-influenced material that made him a festival headliner. It is one of a run of tribute concerts programmed at the Dunamaise through the autumn.

What to expect

Expect a full band rather than a solo act: guitars, drums and backing vocals built to recreate Stapleton’s sound rather than just cover his songs individually. The setlist draws on Stapleton’s own records, built around the title track “Tennessee Whiskey” alongside deeper cuts, moving between slower ballads and heavier Southern rock numbers. The show is aimed at Stapleton’s Irish fanbase, which has grown considerably since his Irish festival appearances, and at country music fans more generally who cannot easily see the real thing live in Ireland. As with the venue’s other tribute nights this autumn, expect a seated show with a bar open before the performance and during the interval.

Getting there

Dunamaise Arts Centre is on Church Street in Portlaoise, close to the main shopping streets and a short walk from Portlaoise train station on the Dublin to Cork and Limerick line. The venue is easy to reach by car off the M7, which meets the N8 at Portlaoise.

While you’re in Portlaoise

Portlaoise is the working county town of Laois, home to the courthouse, council offices and the main shops, plus the M7/N8 crossroads that puts most of the midlands within reach. Before the show, the Rock of Dunamase, a Norman hilltop ruin five kilometres out of town, makes for a short late-afternoon detour. There is more to see in Portlaoise and across Co. Laois.
