Niall Breslin: The Place That Has Never Been Wounded

At The Source Arts Centre · Cathedral Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary

Niall Breslin, the musician and broadcaster widely known as Bressie, brings his show The Place That Has Never Been Wounded to The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Saturday, 3 October 2026. Breslin fronted the pop band The Blizzards through the mid-2000s before moving into a solo recording career, and has since become one of Ireland’s most recognisable voices on mental health, blending music with the kind of direct, personal talk that made his podcast work and his memoir well known well beyond the music scene.

What to expect

Breslin’s post-Blizzards output has moved between songwriting and public speaking, and his live dates in recent years have generally combined the two rather than sitting as a straight gig. He won the first season of The Voice of Ireland as a coach in 2012 and has coached on it since, and he has presented Classical Wind Down on BBC Radio 3. His book Me and My Mate Jeffrey, about living with generalised anxiety disorder, won an Irish Book Award, and his podcast Where Is My Mind? built on that same territory. Expect a show that draws on original songs alongside spoken passages, in the same intimate 250-seat theatre that hosts the venue’s other autumn music dates. The venue bar is open before the show and during any interval.

Getting there

The Source Arts Centre is on Cathedral Street in Thurles town centre, a short walk from Thurles railway station on the Dublin to Cork and Limerick lines. Bus Éireann services connect Thurles to Nenagh, Clonmel and beyond, and the venue is close to the Liberty Square car parks.

While you’re in Thurles

Thurles is the birthplace of the GAA, founded in the town in 1884, with Semple Stadium a short walk from the arts centre. There is more to see in Thurles and across Co. Tipperary.
