Harry's Bar - Traditional Music Session (Sunday)

At Harry's Bar · Rosses Upper, Rosses Point, Co. Sligo

Traditional music session at Harry's Bar, Rosses Point

Harry’s Bar in Rosses Point hosts an informal traditional Irish music session every Sunday evening, one of a handful of weekly sessions that keep live trad music going in the villages around Sligo town. Musicians bring fiddles, flutes, accordions and bodhrans and play together in the bar itself, with no stage and no set list. It is free to attend and open to anyone who wants to sit in with a pint and listen, or bring an instrument and join in.

What to Expect

The session runs in the bar rather than a separate function room, so the music sits close to the counter and the crowd. Tunes are led by whichever musicians turn up that week, drawing on the standard traditional repertoire of reels, jigs and hornpipes, with the odd song mixed in. It is listed on TheSession.org, the main reference site for Irish traditional music sessions, which places Harry’s among the established weekly sessions in the Sligo area rather than a one-off booking. Rosses Point itself is a small seaside village a short drive from Sligo town, popular for its beach, golf links and views across Sligo Bay to Benbulben, so a Sunday evening session here often follows an afternoon walk on the strand. The bar has had periods of reduced opening hours in the past, so it is worth a quick check before setting out on a quiet night.
