Faughart is widely held to be the birthplace of St Brigid, and every year on 1 February the Faughart Community Group marks the occasion with a candlelit procession. It sets off at 6:30pm from St Brigid’s Shrine, led by robed figures and a lone drummer, winding to Faughart Graveyard in the winter dark. Fire is lit on the ancient motte and live music follows. Free to attend.
