At Talbot Hotel Clonmel · Emmet Street, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary
The Talbot Hotel in Clonmel runs a sit-down Afternoon Tea service six days a week, Monday to Saturday, from 12.30pm until 4pm. It is one of the few properly bookable, dated afternoon tea offerings in Tipperary town centres rather than a one-off event, which makes it a reliable option for birthdays, hen parties, mother and daughter outings or simply an afternoon out in Clonmel. The hotel is a well-known fixture on Emmet Street and the tea room seating is separate from its bars and main restaurant, so it runs as its own distinct sitting rather than an add-on to lunch.
There are two tiers on offer. The Classic Afternoon Tea, at €30 per person, includes dainty finger sandwiches such as egg and chive, and ham and cheddar, alongside smoked salmon on brown soda bread, homemade buttermilk scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of bite-sized sweet treats including brownies and profiteroles. The Bubbly Afternoon Tea, at €39 per person, adds a glass of something sparkling to the same spread. Tea, herbal infusions and coffee are all included, and the kitchen accommodates gluten-free, vegetarian and other dietary requirements on request.
The Talbot Hotel sits on Emmet Street in the centre of Clonmel, within walking distance of the town’s bus and rail links, and has its own guest parking. Visitors travelling from Clonmel railway station or the town’s Bus Éireann stops can walk to the hotel in a few minutes, making it an easy stop for a day trip built around Clonmel’s shops and riverside walks.
Clonmel is Tipperary’s largest town, set on the River Suir with the Comeragh Mountains close by. There is more to see in Clonmel and across Co. Tipperary.
