Thurles Farmers Market sets up every Saturday morning outside the Greyhound Track, a short walk from Liberty Square. Around fifteen stallholders trade here week to week, selling fresh produce, home baking, cheeses and jams, with handmade crafts appearing on some weekends. It is a small, practical market run for the town rather than for visitors, though anyone passing through Thurles on a Saturday morning is welcome to browse the stalls.
Expect a modest, working market: around 15 stalls set out near the Greyhound Track, running from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Regular traders sell seasonal vegetables and fruit, fresh bread and traybakes, farmhouse cheeses, jams and preserves, and free-range eggs, with occasional stalls for garden plants or handmade crafts depending on the week. There is no admission charge and no need to book, you simply walk the stalls, and most vendors take cash. Because it is an outdoor market, turnout and stall numbers vary a little with the weather, but it operates year round rather than seasonally. It runs alongside Thurles’ other Saturday gathering, Market 54 in the newer Market Quarter beside the River Suir, giving the town two separate weekend markets within easy walking distance of each other.
The market is on the edge of Thurles town centre, outside the Greyhound Track, a five to ten minute walk from Liberty Square and Hayes’ Hotel. Thurles railway station, on the Dublin Heuston to Cork line, is a short drive or taxi ride away. Street parking is available close to the venue, and the town centre car parks are within easy walking distance.
