At St Dympna's Primary School · 2 Old Creamery Road, Dromore, Co. Tyrone
Dromore’s family fun day follows straight on from the town’s own road race on Saturday, 22 August 2026, turning the school grounds at St Dympna’s Primary School into a free afternoon of stalls and entertainment once the runners are in. It coincides with the wider Comhaltas Summer Music Festival weekend in the town, so Dromore has music and visitors in the area on top of its own event, making it one of the busier dates on the local calendar.
Once the 10K and 5K road race finishes in the town centre, families head to St Dympna’s Primary School for bouncy castles, face painting, live music and entertainment, and health and wellbeing stalls staffed by local groups. Refreshments are available on site. The race itself is organised by Dromore Runners in partnership with the Dromore Health and Wellbeing Committee, and profits from race entries go to local educational facilities, so the fun day sits inside a wider community fundraising effort rather than standing alone. A Couch to 5K programme has also fed runners into the race in the weeks beforehand, which tends to bring extra family and friends along on the day itself to cheer and stay for the afternoon.
The road race starts and finishes in Dromore town centre, with the family fun day a short walk away at St Dympna’s Primary School on Old Creamery Road.
Dromore sits on the Fermanagh and Omagh border in west Tyrone, and the fun day is a good excuse to see a small Tyrone town on one of its busiest weekends of the year. There is more to see in Dromore and across Co. Tyrone.
