Acoustic Music Night Clonmel

At Local Venue · Clonmel Town Centre, Co. Tipperary

Acoustic musician performing at Clonmel venue

A Sunday evening of stripped-back live music in Clonmel - no big production, no noise, just performers close enough that you can hear every breath between the notes. Acoustic nights like this one give singer-songwriters the room they need to actually be heard, and give audiences a chance to sit with the music rather than shout over it. If you enjoy hearing original material alongside well-chosen covers, and prefer a room where the crowd actually listens, this is the kind of night worth seeking out.

What to expect

Expect a relaxed, attentive atmosphere with solo artists or small acoustic acts taking turns on a small stage or performance spot. The format typically sees two or three performers across the evening, each playing a half-hour set of original songs and acoustic covers. Because the setting is intimate, there is nowhere to hide - and that tends to draw performers who are genuinely good. Clonmel has a steady local music culture, with organisations like Clonmelody and Clonmel World Music keeping acoustic and folk programming alive in the town across the year. This kind of grassroots evening feeds into that tradition. Bring good ears and leave the headphones behind.

Getting there

Clonmel is the county town of Tipperary, sitting on the River Suir about 50km from both Waterford and Limerick. By road, the N24 connects it to Waterford in around 45 minutes, and the M8 Cork - Dublin motorway is accessible via Cahir, roughly 20 minutes west. Bus Eireann runs services to Clonmel from Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Tipperary town; the bus stop on Parnell Street is a short walk from the town centre. There is no mainline rail service into Clonmel itself. Street parking is available throughout the town centre in the evenings, and the multi-storey at Sarsfield Street gives a reliable fallback if on-street spaces are taken.

While you’re in Clonmel

Clonmel is one of the better towns in Munster for a slow evening wander - the old quays along the Suir, the Franciscan Friary, and the 19th-century Main Guard building are all worth a look before the music starts. There is more to see in Clonmel and across Co. Tipperary.
