Camp Rockwell 2026

At Camp Rockwell · Kilgarvan Quay, Brockagh, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary

Camp Rockwell outdoor activities

Camp Rockwell has been running every summer since 1970, making it Ireland’s longest-running summer camp - and for families across Tipperary and beyond, it has become something of an institution. Running across three one-week sessions from mid-July through to the end of the month, it is aimed at children from five to fourteen and built around the extensive grounds and facilities of Rockwell College. If your kids want sport, water, outdoor adventure and a week away with new friends, this is a well-tested option.

What to expect

The camp splits into two age groups: Mini Rockers (ages 5-7) get their own programme with gentler activities - grass sledging, boat trips, nature trails, treasure hunts and team games. Older campers (ages 8-14) get the full run of the facilities, which are genuinely impressive for a summer camp.

Rockwell College sits on grounds that include a 24-acre lake, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, rugby, hockey and soccer pitches, basketball courts, all-weather multi-purpose pitches, tennis courts, gymnasiums and forest areas. Activities across the week include waterpark sessions on the lake, kayaking, an assault course, orienteering, dodgeball, volleyball, GAA, soccer, rugby, rounders, arts and crafts, swimming two to three times per week, and evening events like Rock Factor and Nightline.

Sessions run Monday to Friday. For 2026, Week 1 (July 13-17) and Week 3 (July 27-31) are already fully booked; Week 2 (July 20-24) still has places available at time of writing.

Getting there

Rockwell College is in south Co. Tipperary, within easy reach of the main Tipperary road network. From Dublin, the M7 motorway takes you to Limerick Junction, from where it is a short drive. Cork and Limerick are both under an hour away. Bus Eireann serves Tipperary town, though a car is the practical option for pick-up and drop-off with luggage. Parking is available on site.

While you’re in Nenagh

A camp drop-off makes a good excuse to spend a day in the county - Tipperary has plenty of heritage sites, walking routes and market towns within easy reach. There is more to see in Nenagh and across Co. Tipperary.
